Tradicional Cheese Bread from Minas Gerais State

I discovered this recipe watching a tv show on the brazilian channel, called "Terra de Minas".

I was so beautiful to see the two sisters from Arraial Velho giving the recipe and making the bread dough right in front of the cameras, that I had to make mine here. And it worked really well !

It is also quite easy to do and if you have an electric mixer that also makes bread, you can use it without a problem !
I made my dough using mine.

1kg tapioca starch (Manioc Starch)
1/2 cup of water
4 to 6 eggs
1 cup of milk
1 1/4 cup oil
400g of shredded cheese
salt to taste

In a small saucepan, combine the oil, milk, water, salt and bring to a boil over medium heat.

Pour the starch into a big bowl and add the boiling mixture. Mix it with a wooden spoon.

Wait untill the mixture is warm and add the cheese. Mix with hands.
Gradually add the eggs. 4 first, and if necessary, add more until it reaches the desired consistency.

Make small balls and bake in preheated oven at 180ºC/350ºF for 40 minutes or until golden.

I used a mixture of grated cheeses, which you can find in any grocery store.
And I added some Parmesan Cheese for extra flavor .

You can also freeze the uncooked balls and keep them in the freezer bags, and bake them whenever you want. Just take them directly to the preheated oven for about 40 min or until golden.
I tested it and it worked !
